The UPB Debate Team hosted the 2nd Inang Laya Cup, a British Parliamentary Debate Tournament for high schools, last February 15-17 in the University of the Philippines Baguio.
Four institutions namely: Baguio City National High School Main, Bakakeng High School, Pisay CAR and Pisay Ilocos, joined the event. Overall, 20 teams participated in the said event.
The Inang Laya Cup is geared towards fostering critical thinking and social awareness among the young and brilliant minds of high school students in Northern Luzon. As part of the commitment in achieving the goals of the University, UPB Debate Team provided a competent arena where students can enhance and exhibit their skills in intellectual discourse. Inang Laya serves as the symbolic figure of UP Baguio. She embodies the spirit and culture of free expression and exchange of ideas.
At the end of the three-day competition, Baguio City National High School was declared the winner of the tournament.
