BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Consistent with UP Baguio’s mandate to perform its unique and distinctive leadership in higher education and development, and to lead in setting academic standards and initiating innovations in teaching, research, and community service in its identified niche, the Department of Biology of the College of Science, UP Baguio has set as its research and extension work program the following: data-banking, conservation and ethno-botany of Northern Luzon biodiversity resources. After almost ten years of work along this vision, the Department is ready to translate its output and experience into an academic program, the MS CaRE.

Program Goals

At the end of the program, graduates of MS CaRE are:

  • competent environmental biologists who can lead and undertake projects in conservation, assessment, monitoring, and restoration of degraded ecosystems;
  • trained to carry out research in conservation and restoration ecology; and,
  • ready to pursue Ph.D. courses in related fields.
